Several decades of research on the impact that fathers have on the lives of children demonstrate that fathers have a significant influence on their children’s lives—whether by virtue of their presence, or by their absence. We designed this toolkit for professionals working to establish healthy relationships with fathers to improve service and/or program engagement. Working with young men in groups can be a valuable way to create space for young men to focus on their identities as fathers. However, group work can be challenging to initiate and sustain. Community groups for young men who are fathers are quite resource intensive, which may pose challenges to the third-sector groups who run them, particularly as state provision is rolled back and the third sector is being required to enter that space. Training Materials This care notebook template is designed to assist caregivers of children with special health care needs to maintain a record of their child's care, services, providers, and notes. Families and caregivers should bring their child's care notebook to all medical appointments, therapies, conferences, and vacations. The care notebook can be used to ensure that care is comprehensive, coordinated, and family-centered.
