Jobs Plus promotes employment among public housing residents through employment services, rent rule changes that provide incentives to work, and community support for work. NPEN’s 2015 survey of parenting education nationwide revealed information about work being done in the parenting education arena, including how parents and other caregivers are being reached, how they are engaging with parenting programs, what they are learning and how those programs are promoted and funded. The McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at New York University Silver School of Social Work recently partnered with the National Council for Behavioral Health to facilitate a yearlong Learning Community (LC), a promising methodology for helping organizations adopt and sustain practices and principles of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). While no one can avoid all stressful situations, 2013's Stress in America survey portrays a picture of high stress and ineffective coping mechanisms that appear to be ingrained in our culture, perpetuating unhealthy lifestyles and behaviors for future generations. While the news about American stress levels is not new, what’s troubling is the stress outlook for teens in the United States.
