This brief is a resource for human service professionals on child safety and risk assessments in AI/AN communities. It is informed by the work of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) with tribal child welfare professionals and by concerns in the field about the effectiveness of standard assessments in tribal communities. Training Materials Curriculum Goals:1. To provide an experiential learning event on the historical relevance and current impacts of slavery on African-American fathers. 2. To develop an awareness of biases against African-American fathers by Child Welfare social workers and their agencies. 3. To present solutions to the systemic biases against African-American fathers within Child Welfare. 4.
