This self-assessment package is designed to help Head Start and other family service programs assess their organization's readiness to provide services to fathers and father figures. First, the Father-Friendliness Organizational Self-Assessment and Planning Tool is presented and organizations are asked to rate themselves in the following areas: organizational support, position and reputation in community, agency policies and procedures, staffing/human resources, program services, physical environment, and communication and interaction. Second, a form is provided for developing an action plan for becoming more father-friendly. For each of the key areas, organizations are asked to develop short-term and long-term action steps.
