What is the NRFC?

The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (NRFC) supports the Administration for Children and Families' Office of Family Assistance's efforts to assist States and communities to support Promoting Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Marriage programs.

Primarily a tool for professionals operating Responsible Fatherhood programs, the NRFC provides access to print and electronic publications, timely information on fatherhood issues, and targeted resources that support Office of Family Assistance (OFA)-funded Promoting Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Marriage grantees.

For more information, see About Us.

I have a situation I am looking for help with (ex: establishing paternity, child support enforcement issues). Can the NRFC help me?

The NRFC is a research and informational source, primarily regarding program implementation. While some information we provide may be useful to you personally, we are not capable of properly addressing concerns of a more personal nature and cannot make recommendations for therapists, practitioners, or programs. Many agencies dealing with parental issues are local and we do not have any comprehensive listing of these agencies.

Other local organizations, such as a local or State operated Fatherhood program may be of assistance in connecting you to these resources. To find a program near you visit our Find a Fatherhood Program map.

For information on Child Support Enforcement offices near you, and information on child support, custody, and visitation, visit our Dads – My Challenges section.

What is the Online Library?

The Online Library function of the NRFC website allows you to search the research and publications collected by and provided through the NRFC quickly and easily. These resources are selected because of their relevance to the Responsible Fatherhood field and are intended to supplement and enhance current and developing programs.

Visit the Library section to learn more and to search for resources.

What is the difference between the library and the publications that are listed on some pages?

The NRFC’s Online Library serves as a central location to search for the publication collected by and provided through the NRFC. Some are available for free, others will direct you to the publisher to obtain copies. Publications listed on some pages are highlighted because of their timeliness and relevance to that section, but are also available in the Library, even after being removed from the page.

I want to look at a publication to use, but it costs money. I thought the NRFC didn't charge for its library holdings.

Some of the information that we present as a publication may be relevant to the fatherhood field, but only available through the company responsible for developing it. In these cases you may be redirected to their website to purchase the publication you are interested in. The NRFC DOES NOT sponsor or maintain this separate site. The NRFC and its affiliated organizations are not responsible for the content, accuracy, legality or views represented on websites that may link to the NRFC. Reference to any specific commercial products, process, service, manufacturer, or company does not constitute its endorsement or recommendation by the U.S. Government, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), or the Administration for Children and Families (ACF).
